Welcome to Bucklebee Studio

Human beings are driven to create.  I've always found joy in the creative process.  By selling the items I make and donating all profits, I am able to continue to feed my need to create with the added bonus of benefiting  charitable organizations.  As a consumer you can rest assured knowing that your purchase has helped others.  All items are crafted in the USA.  Supplies that are used to make the goods are sourced from manufacturers in the USA, if possible, and as much as is possible locally sourced from small businesses.

Charities the shop supports

The Nature Conservancy,  Ocean Conservancy, NRDC, American Red Cross, The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, National Park Foundation, Harvesters, Lucky 13 Rescue, Heifer International, Monarch Watch, National Audubon Society, Arbor Day Foundation, Planned Parenthood, Solve ME/CSF

About our goods and the materials used in their creation

Leather

The leather used in most goods made in the studio is vegetable tanned cowhide.  Each item has been tooled, dyed, and finished by hand.  Products used in the process are environmentally friendly. The intent in the creation of some items was to honor the animal that inhabited the hide.  The studio attempts to minimize waste by utilizing every inch of hide possible.

Stained glass

Stained glass items are constructed using either copper foil or metal came.  Items with lead solder will be noted. Each piece of glass has been hand cut, ground, and foiled or fitted into came.  Every effort has been taken to minimize contamination of the environment from the chemicals used in this process.

Fused glass

Fused glass items are constructed from hand cut pieces of glass, glass frit, and/or powder, and fused at high temperatures in a kiln.  Some items require several kiln firings.  Items including upcycled glass will be noted.

Wood

The wood that is used in some goods in the shop has been found, or taken from the annual trimming of orchard trees.  Purchased lumber is obtained from companies that practice responsible harvesting.  Occasionally items may be created from reclaimed lumber.

Plant material

Any plant material used in the making of shop goods has been harvested from plants grown on our property using organic methods.
